Born and raised in Saskatoon, Tobi-Dawne Smith is proud to be running in a riding that boasts incredible diversity. As a member of a multi-racial family, she believes in the strength found in an open sharing of cultural and religious traditions. An open and honest dialogue is the best way to bridge gaps and bring understanding.
Tobi-Dawne is an active disability rights advocate for people with invisible disabilities such as social anxiety disorder, epilepsy and fibromyalgia. She educates the public on the rights of the disabled and works to resolve conflicts that arise from misunderstandings.
In addition to her work as a disability rights advocate, Tobi-Dawne is a Canine Behavior Specialist. Combining her passions, Tobi-Dawne founded one of only two psychiatric assistance animal training centers in North America. She believes that such highly trained animal partners can play an important role in preventive health care, helping to reduce the strain that invisible disabilities have on our health care system.
Tobi-Dawne’s role as a mother has strengthened her resolve to be socially responsible and to help build a better future for her 2-year old daughter. Tobi-Dawne knows that her child Lily-Anne, and all the children of Saskatchewan, depend on her to fight against nuclear power, and to encourage safe, renewable alternatives such as wind and solar power. It is for this reason that she decided to run on behalf of the Green Party of Saskatchewan - the only party that is united on it’s stand against nuclear.
